FINBAR O'CONNOR'S IRISH & CROATIAN
NDB IMAGES

The images on this page were kindly supplied by Finbar, and show a number of the beacons that are operating in various parts of Ireland, including the Donegal, Sligo, Carrickfin and Finner Camp NDBs, plus a very picturesque beacon in Croatia which serves the airport at Dubrovnik. The Sligo NDB was recently replaced with a brand new one, and below you will see some wonderful images of both the old and new ones. You will find pictures of the NDB at Ennis in County Clare, which is an enroute beacon for Shannon Airport. We're very grateful to Finbar for sharing these wonderful shots with us, and for allowing us to display them here in the NDB List Photo Gallery.

This is a very impressive shot, you can even see the earth wire connecting the base to the radials.

Sligo NDB
Another shot of the full installation, this time from another angle.

Sligo NDB
A cracking shot of the old NDB, now laid to rest alongside the newer installation.

Sligo NDB
This shot shows a really good close up of the Nav Light Transformer on the new NDB.

Ennis NDB
This is a really nice close up showing the insulators on the mast, and the isolator where the feeder comes out through the transmitter housing.

Ennis NDB
Another nice view of the mast and antenna, obviously a popular spot with the local birds who are probably keeping their feet warm up there.

Ennis NDB
This shot shows the base of the antenna mast.

Ennis NDB
Another nice shot of the NDB and antenna from a slightly different angle. This looks like it might be a enroute beacon from the size of the mast.

Ennis NDB
Another shot of the NDB's transmitter housing from a slightly different angle.
