NICOLAS PELATAN'S FRENCH NDB IMAGES
The images on this page were kindly supplied by Nicolas, and feature the NDBs 'ORW', 'OYE', 'BGW', 'RSY' and CGZ from the various Paris Airports, and also the beacon 'EM', which is currently out of order, and located at Etampes/Mondesir Airport, around 50km south of Paris.
Many French NDBs use the characteristic Mode A1A with a zero Hz offset, where idents appear exactly on the carrier frequency, but all of the beacons shown here, with the exception of EM, have 400Hz offsets, with both an upper and lower sideband spaced at plus/minus 400Hz either side of the carrier being transmitted in the AM (Non A2A) mode. All of the NDBs shown are the 'Monopole' types, which have a large capacity hat, and what looks like a top loading/matching coil just beneath them.

NDB "OYE - 349.0 kHz", ORLY AIRPORT, PARIS, FRANCE:
OYE on 349 kHz - Orly Airport, Paris. This beacon also serves Orly Airport (LFPO), and is located at N4845.2 E00232.4. This one also has a listed range of 25nm.
Orly Airport, Paris. This superb shot shows the base of the antenna, and you can clearly see how the NDB is fed. You can also see the spark gap, and even the self-amalgamating tape covering the plug on the feeder.
Another fine shot showing the rural setting of the NDB, which is well hidden by the trees and bushes.
Another nice shot of the transmitter building and antenna, very unusual to see a NDB located so close to residential properties.
A nice close up shot of the inside of the compound.
NDB "BGW - 334.0 kHz", LE BOURGET AIRPORT, FRANCE:
This beacon serves Le Bourget Airport (LFPB), and is located at N4856.4 E00216.9. This Locator beacon has a listed range of 25nm.
In this shot you can see that this beacon is located in a more industrial area, and doesn't have a fence around the compound.
You can see the guy wires supporting the mast on this NDB.
NDB "RSY - 356.0 kHz", CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT, FRANCE:
Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris. This beacon serves the Charles de Gaulle Airport (LFPG), and is located at N4901.9 E00242.4. It has a 400 Hz offset, and a listed range of 25nm. This is a lovely close-up of the capacity hat on this Monopole antenna.
Another shot of RSY, this time showing the guyed mast and compound around the transmitter housing.
NDB "CGZ - 370.0 kHz", CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT, FRANCE:
This beacon serves the Charles de Gaulle Airport (LFPG), and is located at N4900.3 E00244.4. It has a 400 Hz offset, and a listed range of 25nm. This shot shows the base of the base of the antenna.
A nice close-up of the capacity hat and loading/matching coil.
This shot shows the guyed mast, compound and transmitter housing of this Locator beacon.
NDB "EM - 295.0 kHz", ETAMPES (MONDESIR) AIRPORT, FRANCE:
This beacon serves the Etampes (Mondesir) Airport (LFOX), and is located at N4822.5 E00204.8. It has a zero offset, and a listed range of 50nm. This NDB is currently out of order, but can bee seen here in its rural location.
